There is absolutely no way that any man can understand how women feel when they find a lump. Women are told and taught to check their breasts on a regular basis, to be constantly aware that early location will lessen risks in the worst case scenario. But how on earth does a woman feel if and when the nightmare is confirmed? A lump is found. First thought – What is it it? Was it there yesterday? Does it hurt? Please don’t let it be that ….. Then it is essential, completely and utterly and totally imperative that a medical opinion is sought. Some women are martyrs, and will probably wait, maybe hoping that the lump will disappear, and that nothing is really wrong. Some simply don’t want to be seen to be wasting the doctor’s time.
It is never a waste of time to have a lump checked. While most women are more prone to fluid retention than men, and more rapid changes in body composition, a lump is still a lump. Doctors, surgeons, and experts tend to base their collective diagnoses on several criteria. Like the age of the patient, her lifestyle, her current state of health, and whether her family has a history of breast cancer. Between 5 and 10 per cent of breast cancers are genetic, but if the family carries one of the genes there is an 85 per cent risk of cancer development. Obviously, once a medical consultation has taken place, there will be tests. Lots of tests. Genetic tests, which can now detect the breast and ovarian cancer gene BRCA1, mammagrams, or ultrasound tests. A woman needs a immense support at this time.
The waiting time varies, and the counselling sometimes might not be adequate. It probably helps, but what can possibly prepare any woman for the news that cancer is present, and a mastectomy is necessary? One, maybe both breasts will be lost. Not a finger. Not an ear. A breast. Something that men see. Something that men like. Something that a woman might use to snag a man. Something that makes her feel like a woman, sexy, attractive, vivacious. Something she needs in motherhood. Gone forever. So now it’s the 21st century, and surgical technology means that after months of chemotherapy, then a mastectomy, then radiotherapy and reconstructive surgery, a woman can look whole, even if she doesn’t quite feel it. But there’s the hair loss, the weight gain, the possibility of infertility, the constant testing on the lymph system, the weight gain, and the feeling of lost femininity.
Men have to help their partners out. Some women may have surgery to increase the size of the lost breasts, and may be more than happy with a new look. Men have to remember that a mastectomy leaves women with little or no feeling. Temporary saline implants are the norm, but increasingly are being replaced with tissue implants, using skin, fat, arteries and veins from another part of the body, usually the buttocks. These microsurgery techniques are carried out over a lengthy period of time, as a permanent breast is built, followed by nipple grafts. Breast cancer takes its toll on both women and men, but to have part of the anatomy removed must be truly crushing.
Although one must assume that women who have been diagnosed with cancer are happy to remain alive and well, the physical and emotional cost is high. With constant aftercare goes constant re-assurance. Fear that the cancer might re-appear. That it might have spread. Women just seem to cope so well. Guys, we need to help our women locate lumps, and in cancer cases, through the painful years afterwards. There is no comparison that a man can make. Maybe having his penis removed, and replaced with a non working piece of flesh, grafted from the buttocks. And how would we cope with that?

Alternative remedies are more well-liked than ever, and women are now searching for “natural” solutions for the unpleasant symptoms of menopause. But natural doesn’t always mean safe. Actually, researchers have discovered that particular herbs possibly will raise a woman’s risk of breast cancer.
Even though there’s no direct data that the usage of herbs could increase or decrease the risk of breast cancer, in theory, a number of herbs have estrogen-like actions thus they shouldn’t be employed long-term or by women with a history of breast cancer or those at high risk. A number of these herbs include: black cohosh, blue cohosh, chasteberry, dang gui, dong quai and ginseng.
What about with traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) connected with Chinese drugs?
Although there is no word for cancer in the annals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are many conditions with traditional names that would be diagnosed as cancer by physicians nowadays.
Ironically, modern physicians are commencement to know that cancer is not a solitary disease, but a lot of different ones. This lately adopted viewpoint is considering the view of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The traditional Chinese treatment of cancer is rooted in the principle of Fu Zheng Gu Ben. “Fu Zheng” indicates strengthening what is correct. “Gu Ben” denotes regeneration and repair.
Treating cancer with Chinese herbs needs diagnosing the likely causes of the cancer, and then selecting the right course of treatment. Diagnosis is completed according to the four examinations. The goal of treatment is to harmonize the patient as well as it is to assault cancerous cells.
In recent years, the research on breast cancer has noted a steady decrease in newly diagnosed cases. Many people attribute this decrease to women accepting the fact that mammograms are a part of life. While mammograms play a significant part in early diagnosis and treatment, a reduction in new diagnosed cases is not linked to early detection. Breast cancer nutrition may be a primary reason for the significant reduction.
The Power of Fat and Breast Cancer Nutrition
Fat was once thought of as the worst ingredient in the diet. Many weight loss plans focused on reducing or eliminating fat from the diet. Thanks to studies on the healthy benefits of good fats, the Omega 3 rich fats have now been added back into the diet. Proper nutrition and Omega 3 rich oils can work together to empower the body to prevent cancer.
Not All Fats are the Same
Omega 3 rich oils need to be balanced with Omega 6 rich oils. Proper anticancer nutrition weighs heavily on this ratio, but unfortunately, many people consume much more Omega 6 than Omega 3. How is the balance maintained? Instead of consuming oils like corn oil, safflower oil and margarine, base your diet instead on olive oils and avocado oils. These oils are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids while the typical oils used for cooking are rich in Omega 6 fatty acids.
Omega 6 fatty acids are not bad for anticancer nutrition, but the huge difference between the amounts of Omega 6 rich oils and Omega 3 rich oils makes for reduced breast cancer fighting power.
How to Choose the Best Breast Cancer Nutrition Oils
When looking through the supermarket, it is important to add in unrefined oils in place of the refined oils.
Refined oils are used in fast food and restaurant setting as well as home cooking in many cases due to the reduced price of these oils. Paying a bit more at the supermarket for olive oil can work wonders for breast cancer prevention.
In addition to olive oil, sardines and walnuts are great sources of Omega 3 fatty acids. The focus may seem to be more on adding Omega 3 rich oils than Omega 6 rich oils. This is due to the overpowering amount of Omega 6 oils used in everyday life. The balance needs to be regained for breast cancer nutrition and the best way to regain that balance is to add more of the healthy oils that are lacking in the diet. In the case of breast cancer nutrition, that would be the Omega 3 fatty acids.

Cancer is the Symptom of Something Much Deeper…by Carol Patterson
Cancer is a disease which touches one in five people. The mysteries of the disease seem to evade even the most well-known oncologists. However, there are alternative cancer cures and holistic cancer cures that are able to rid the “dis-ease” from your body. Cancer can be cured by changing your lifestyle in such a way that you begin to live an “Anti-Cancer” lifestyle. A miracle cancer cure occurs “when you get your mind, body and spirit working in ‘sync’ with one another.”
I have developed an “Anti-Cancer Diet” comprised of cancer fighting foods which can be found on the shelves of the grocery store. All cells regenerate themselves constantly. Some cells die and new cells form. Cancer cells are missing two essential amino acids that normal cells have. When the diseased cancerous cells are fed foods which replenish the missing amino acids, a miracle occurs and the diseased cells morph themselves into healthy cells.
Changing your food is not the only change you need to make. Holistic Cancer Cures deal with the mind and how “Thoughts are things.” Since you have “thought yourself into illness” you can “think yourself into wellness.” This is not an easy concept to grasp at first, but when you take time to consider alternative cancer cures and alternative cancer therapy a new realization happens.
Our minds are quite complex. Research has shown that our minds hide subconscious thoughts that eat away at our bodies daily even as we sleep. It has been proven that outside influences such as a terrible shock, death, or even financial ruin can cause our minds to leave our immune system open to disease, particularly cancer. We are totally unaware of the goings on of the subconscious mind. Holistic Cancer Cures deal with bringing the subconscious threats to our healthy body, mind and spirit to the surface and allow the “destructive subconscious thoughts” to leave the body forever.
A combination of cancer fighting foods and the release of “dis-ease enabling thoughts” can lead to a natural cancer cure.
Before I had cancer I was an international fashion designer with a television show on Home Shopping Network and the Shopping Channel in Canada. I had several businesses and life seemed to be thriving.
I was engaged to be married to my business partner. While on a business trip to China, I tried to call home to my fiance. Call it woman’s intuition, but I had a very bad feeling. My feeling turned out to be justified. I received a call on my cell phone while in China from the Sheriff of my home town telling me that my fiance had died of a heart attack.
That news shook me to the core of my existence after I stopped screaming for hours.
I was an emotional mess filled with a combination of anger, rage and sadness. I hid the truth from family and friends because I wanted to bury him with honor. My prayers for a very happy marriage with family and friends were answered, but not the way I was expecting.
Within two years of my partner’s death, in May of 2007 I was diagnosed with throat cancer. The doctors were perplexed because I was not the typical profile of a person who gets this disease. They could not figure out how I got cancer.
I went to the University of Virginia for Chemotherapy and Radiation cancer treatment. I nearly died from treatments of this type as a cure for cancer. I lost 60 pounds, but the cancer was in remission.
With my immune system down, I contracted a very rare and painful amoeba in my eye that ate the cornea and blood vessels and I had a heart attack. I slowly recovered from both illnesses.
Within two years of the cancer remission, the same exact cancer returned. I kept getting slammed with one illness after another.
The second time I had cancer, the doctors decided to do surgery. They felt that Chemotherapy and Radiation had not worked. This time they would do “salvage surgery” which involved removing a part of my jaw, a part of my throat, a part of tongue, replace my neck artery with an artery from my right hand, take a patch of skin from my left shoulder to make a flap in my throat, insert a tracheotomy, and a stomach tube for the rest of my life.
I refused “salvage surgery”. The name justly fits the procedure. I did not want my face to be disfigured and my voice to be marred.
After long and hard thought, I turned to alternative cancer therapy to find a new cancer cure. I read where the body has extremely wonderful recuperative abilities and the power to heal itself. This is where my cancer journey began.
I was directed to a Naturopathic Doctor and began a regime of herbs and vitamins coupled with fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, and fish.
I began reading everything I could find about miracle cancer cures, healing, alternative cancer cures, self-healing, natural cancer cures, alternative medicine, holistic cancer cures, meditation, visualization techniques and Reiki therapy. Believe me, this was a lot of work. I had stacks of books all over my bedroom. On the other hand, what was my alternative?
I had no choice but to take the road less traveled. I had come to what my intuitive healer calls the “Crossroads” of my healing. I had come to the end of what I would accept from standard medical procedures. After witnessing the death of several friends from cancer and I knew the scenario all too well. I chose quality of life over standard medical procedures.
My journey began with the three top Throat Cancer specialists in the country telling me the same diagnosis. The solution to my cancer problem, “Salvage Surgery” was not an option which I would allow for myself. At the same time, my inner-self was telling me to “go deeper” and “find a way to heal yourself of cancer.” I learned to listen to my “inner-self.”
An intuitive healer helped me to realize the shock of my fiance’s death and related childhood traumas had caused my cancer illness. She helped me to release the fact that I had been betrayed in what was to be a happy marriage time by my most-trusted friend. The intuitive healer showed me how our emotions influence our body, mind, and soul and that I needed to love myself and forget the past. I learned that Cancer is just the symptom of a deep emotional trauma which invades every level of the mind, causing illness. In my case, my emotions had caused cancer.
With the intuitive healer’s vast experience in dealing with cancer patients for over twenty years and her Reiki Training, I was in the hands of an Angel. Her intuition and wisdom surround you when you in her presence. She explained that “Life is like and Onion” peeling one layer at a time.
Release of heavy emotional trauma coupled with feeding the diseased cancer cells foods to supply missing essential amino acids resulted in a healthy mind, body and spirit as well as a cancer cure. I do not have cancer anymore and know in my heart that it will never again return to me.
I had a miracle cancer cure. There were many Angels sent to heal me when conventional medicine had all but given up on me. I hope I can be an Angel sent to other by teaching Holistic Cancer Cures and by sharing my miracle cancer cure experiences. Never forget the Power of God in your healing process.

She has done extensive research for the book and illustrates how cancer is caused one day at a time over many years and can be cured with some consistent simplistic modalities.
The author shows how cancer is the symptom of something much deeper and delves into the subconscious mind and holistic cancer cures in the section of the book entitled “the mind.”
Going to the doctor is not like it used to be. In olden times doctors visits were more personalized and in depth. Now traditional medicine is very impersonal and doctors send you home with up to 5 prescriptions that you need to start taking right away. The only problem is you will return next week because of all the side affects that you have from all the medicine the doctor prescribed you in the first place and your original problem still won’t be solved. Unfortunately, the reason behind all the new prescriptions is because of all the kickbacks that doctors get for prescribing them. Although, these medications don’t help the patients and will undoubtedly cause more symptoms. So many Americans have started looking towards complementary and alternative medicine.
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a group of diverse medical practices that are not generally accepted by conventional medicine, conventional medicine being medicine practiced by an M.D., D.O., psychologist, registered nurse, or physical therapist. This group of medicine is continually changing and types of medicine are very broad, however the ultimate goal of this type of medicine is find whole body health and wellness. The principals and guidelines for each individual type of CAM although diverse are based on holistic properties, whereby treating the body as a whole and resolving the underlying problems are far more important in the long run rather than just reducing the symptoms.
CAM involves the connection between the mind and body and not only relieves symptoms but works to resolve the underlying problems as well. Although, used in conjunction with one another, complementary and alternative medicines are two completely different groups of medicine.
Complementary medicine unlike its cohort is used in conjunction with traditional medicine. Therefore the treatment or medicine complements conventional means of resolving pain, disease or illness. Where as alternative medicine, is used in place of conventional medicine to promote self-healing, and preventative medicine.
In the past, CAM was not accepted due to its lack of scientific basis and evidence. However, because many CAM practices are deeply rooted in Eastern history and are based upon traditional medicine, folk knowledge, and spiritual beliefs people are now turning to this type of medicine. Not to mention that patients are seeing and feeling results from CAM. There is no greater influence than someone else’s testimonial, which is causing the rise in CAM. Western medicine, although still hesitant, is just beginning to use some alternative medicines as complements to their conventional methods. Additionally insurances have turned the corner and started allowing several alternative medicines as part of their covered benefits. That’s not to say that CAM is completely accepted by the medical community, it is a long way off. However it has opened the door for new approaches to healing some of which are old ideas with new methods.
Due to the diversity of available CAM’s, it is easier to group them together to understand what type of medicine and treatment is rendered. The categories include natural products, mind-body medicine, and manipulative and body-based practices. Natural products include a variety of herbal medicines, vitamins, minerals and other “natural products”. Products considered natural can include dietary supplementation, herbal or botanical, and probiotics. Mind-body medicine focuses on the connection between the mind and the body to heal and promote health. These practices include meditation, yoga, acupuncture, deep-breathing, guided imagery, hypnotherapy, and tai chi. Lastly manipulative and body-based practices focus on the body systems and their structures. Spinal manipulation from chiropractic care and massage therapy are two commonly used body-based practices.
Before you choose a CAM it is best to research and ask your friends and coworkers for suggestions. It is normal to be nervous or apprehensive because it is not mainstream, however with the popularity and growth that it continues to receive, CAM’s are the next group of conventional medicine.
